10 March 2026

Are you exploring big data using digital humanities research methods? Interested in scholarly publishing and open access? A student researcher looking to delve deeper into the social dimensions of research communication? Consider applying for a Coalition Publica Scholarship!

Coalition Publica is an open infrastructure project dedicated to advancing research dissemination and digital scholarly publishing in Canada. We are proud to support students at the Masters and PhD levels to apply digital humanities methods to Coalition Publica’s textual data corpus or to study the scholarly communication ecosystem.

Now in its fifth year, this program has so far supported 27 students from 13 different Canadian universities. Check out the diversity of research projects from past recipients!

Value

The value of the scholarships has increased since last year.

  • Masters $8,500 (four scholarships available)
  • PhD $12,500 (two scholarships available)

These scholarships are one-time payments funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada through the Pan-Canadian Access to Knowledge Initiative.

Eligibility

Masters and PhD students registered at a Canadian university (primary institution) are eligible. Previous recipients of Coalition Publica scholarships may only reapply if they are at the PhD level and the previous award was at the Masters level.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Coalition Publica is committed to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion. Students from historically under-represented and equity deserving groups are encouraged to submit their projects.
