Announcement of the 2021 Scholarship recipients

In the spring of 2021, we launched the first edition of the Coalition Publica scholarship program, dedicated to early-career researchers working on scholarly communication and research dissemination systems, or application of new methods of digital humanities.

The submitted projects were evaluated on the basis of the relevance of their research objectives and their originality. Scholarships were awarded in accordance with the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and we are pleased to announce the nine winning projects.


  • Digital humanities scholars and data curation: a qualitative study on praxis and motivations for data reuse

  • A feminist analysis of power and privilege in health science and women’s studies journal publishing

Jamie Lundine – PhD Candidate, Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies, University of Ottawa

  • The economics of open access publishing: research funding, article processing charges and the revenues of commercial scholarly publishers

Leigh-Ann Butler – Masters Student, School of Information Studies, University of Ottawa
