General Compliance

The Coalition Publica website is designed to comply with World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA for publicly accessible web pages. Before launching the website the following audit was conducted as follows:

A combination of manual testing and automated evaluation methods was used to assess the website across different interaction modes, platforms, and assistive technologies.

The review included keyboard-only navigation to evaluate operability and focus management, as well as testing with screen readers commonly used by people with disabilities, specifically NVDA and JAWS on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, to assess how content, structure, and dynamic behaviors are announced.

Automated checks were performed using the IBM Equal Access Accessibility Checker in Firefox to identify programmatic issues and WCAG failures that are not easily detectable through manual inspection alone. Testing was conducted in both Firefox and Chrome browsers to account for browser and assistive-technology differences, and an iPhone was used for mobile and high-zoom testing to evaluate responsive behavior, touch target sizes, and accessibility consistency across mobile contexts.

Third-Party Content

The Coalition Publica website links to external documents not hosted on our website such as PDF documents, images and video files created by third parties. These materials might not conform to the accessibility standard.

Non-Compliant Components

We have identified the following components of the Coalition Publica website as being not yet compliant with the accessibility guidelines established in the WCAG 2.1 AA:

  • On some pages, unnecessary information is announced when using screen readers;
  • Users that have cognitive disabilities, low dexterity, or that rely on screen readers may encounter difficulties navigating search results in the Resources and News and Events sections of the website;
  • Some images within links are missing target ALT text information to indicate what happens when the link is activated;
  • Some icons do not have sufficient contrast.

A full account of all outstanding issues related to accessibility is available and the Coalition Publica team is endeavouring to resolve them in a timely manner.
